Major Canadian banks are now focused on supporting their clients in advancing their sustainability strategy, including structuring sustainability-linked loans (“SLLs”) in the metals and mining (M&M) sector ). This panel will include high-level industry representatives, including Erfan Kazemi (Chief Financial Officer of Sandstorm Gold), Justine Fisher (Treasurer of Teck Resources), as well as Magali Gable of BMO’s Sustainable Finance Group. The discussion will focus on sustainability in the M&M sector through the lens of ESG funding, the benefits and challenges of structuring such an SLL, including how to address the “key performance indicators” needed for a mining company is able to operate an SLL as well. as well as other ESG considerations.
